Simple steps for everyday cooking
How to use the calorie and macro calculator
Start with one familiar meal. It is easier to check the foods and amounts before building a whole-day total. Macros here means protein, fat and carbohydrate, shown alongside calories.
Choose the task first
The food-calorie section estimates a particular plate or menu. The daily-calorie section does something different: it provides an approximate guide based on a formula and your selected activity level. The calories you ate are not the same as a personal daily target.
Record your food clearly
In food-selection mode, enter each food and its amount. In text mode, describe the dish, weight and additions in everyday words. For example: “150 g cooked rice, 100 g cooked chicken breast, 5 g olive oil”.
- Say whether the food is raw or cooked: 150 g dry rice and 150 g cooked rice are different entries.
- Include the oil, sauce, sugar and drinks that were part of the meal.
- Answer any clarification questions and check the ingredients the calculator used.
Check the result before adding another meal
Compare the entered portions with what was on your plate. For a specific brand, use its label: a reference entry may differ. If you do not know the ingredients, treat the result as a rough estimate.
In text mode, the food description is sent through the server to OpenAI when you calculate. Food details are enough; do not add personal or medical information. Manual food selection works without a text request.
